Where does a Husky live?
Husky’s natural habitat is the cold northern climate. In contradiction to what we imagine, this breed that worked as sledge dogs in history can endure warmer conditions. At first, I thought that they would not last long at home since from the name Siberian, it denotes a freezing place of origin. In reality, husky can survive living in hot weather.
With their remarkable ability to adapt to the environment, they breed everywhere. However, an ideal habitat for a Husky must have a big area for them to run, exercise and play. Otherwise, they will get lazy and chew away their boredom.
The answer to the question is that husky can live anywhere even in the tropics, desert or Siberia. Therefore, besides their natural cold habitat, they will also survive living in your very own apartment. Certainly, Husky does not live in the wild. They are domesticated animals that love to stay outdoors.
Some Facts You Should Know About a Husky
My dog is a naughty, brown-eyed, male Siberian husky with a copper coat. My wish before was to have a blue-eyed husky with a white fur. However, with my dog now, I could not ask for more. Other Husky coat colors are saddleback, sable, agouti, light red, grey, and other several shades.
Husky’s double coat is wooly. A factor that worried me about adopting him. A thick coat can resist extreme low temperature and is risky for a warm habitat. Yet, do not be surprised to know that my dog lives with me in the tropics. I will share with you techniques on how to take care of your husky while in a warm place later on.
Average Lifespan for a Husky
My Husky is now two (2) years old, healthy and happy. Being small and sick, he was the last litter of five that were for adoption. When I took him, I was afraid he would die. Now I know that he still has a long way to go considering that their average lifespan is 12 years or more.
For dogs, females live longer than males and husky is no exception. For a two-year-old, my dog weighs 25 kilos. He stopped growing when he reached 12 months. Definitely, my Husky is hyperactive at his age (adult age between 1-7 years old), and he loves walks, games, toys, and food.
The Husky Trend
Do you know that a husky mix pet is trending nowadays? I observe that the most popular mix is the Pomsky. With the ever-growing demand for husky, this new breed came up to be the most sought after for kids. Pomsky is a mixture of Siberian husky and Pomeranians.
With the qualities of both breeds mixed together, the result is a mini version of adorable husky. With this size, the dog is more manageable for kids and lesser maintenance needed especially for dog owners who live in small spaces.
